  • Professor in Department of Building and Real Estate, Faculty of Construction and Environment at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
  • Research focuses on electrochemical systems for energy conversion and storage, including solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), protonic ceramic fuel cells (PCFCs), Zn-air batteries (ZABs), electrochemical cells for low-grade heat utilization
  • SRFS project — adopts both the trial-and-error and machine learning-based approaches to facilitate new cathode material development. Through multi-physics modelling and optimisation techniques, unconventional stack designs, including several nature-inspired stack configurations, will be evaluated for protonic ceramic fuel cell (PCFC). The research integrates engineering, chemistry, physics and material science to address the complex challenges of using PCFC for clean power generation

倪萌教授2007年于香港大学获得博士学位。 目前是香港理工大学建筑及房地产学系教授及建设及环境学院副院长。

 

倪萌教授的研究主要包括用于制氢的电解槽,用于清洁发电的燃料电池技术和用于储能的电池技术。 他带领团队为电解槽/燃料电池和电池开发出了一系列的新钙钛矿材料,也建立了数学模型对器件进行优化设计。 他们提出了热膨胀补偿机制,极大提高了燃料电池的长期运行稳定性,也采用了机器学习和实验相结合的方法加速了新材料的开发。 倪萌教授于2007年获得香港青年科学家奖,并于2016年成为德国洪堡学者。 基于他对燃料电池和电解槽的数学建模的贡献,倪萌教授于2022年获得中国能源研究会的研究创新一等奖。 他带领团队参加了2022年Tera Award的创新大赛并获得铜奖。

 

倪萌教授是超过80份国际期刊的审稿人,包括著名的期刊Science, Nature Energy, 和Nature Communications等。 他发起和成立了Energy Reviews并担任联合主编,也是Sustainable Energy Technologies and Assessments (Elsevier)和 e-Prime (Elsevier)的高级编辑及International Journal of Green Energy (Taylor & Francis), Energy Storage (Wiley), 和 The Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering (Wiley)等3份国际期刊的副主编。 他曾于2015-2017年担任Science Bulletin副主编并连续两年获得优秀副主编奖。
