Biography
(只提供英文版)
- Associate Professor in Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at The University of Hong Kong
- Research interests include planetary space environment modeling and forecasting
- RFS project — aims to facilitate how scientists study and predict the space environments around planets in our solar system, with potential applications on planetary space weather forecasting. This project will develop a powerful, open-source software package that allows researchers to simulate the complex physics related to planetary space, including the upper atmosphere, magnetic fields and plasma. This software will be designed for use on supercomputers and will include advanced tools to model how gases, magnetic fields, and energetic particles interact in space. Because of limited data availability from the outer planets, this project will also create new, physics-based models to help forecast space conditions where direct observations are scarce. These predictive tools are essential for planning future missions to planets like Jupiter and Saturn, where extreme space environments present unique challenges.
