  • Associate Professor in Department of Applied Mathematics at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
  • Research focuses on the development of efficient computational methods for nonlinear partial differential equations in physical, engineering and geometric models, with rigorous analysis for the stability and convergence of the numerical approximations
  • RFS project - to develop new algorithms and analysis to address some long-standing mathematical questions concerning the stability and convergence of parameteric finite element methods for approximating curvature-driven surface and interface evolution in geometric flow and two-phase fluid flow (such as bubbles in liquids)

李步揚教授的研究主要是為計算數學中的前沿問題開發新的算法和分析。他於2023年獲研資局研究學者計劃獎學金,也曾於2022年獲「香港數學會青年學者獎」。兩個獎項皆是學界對他在計算數學領域中的重要貢獻和卓越成就的認可。

 

他的RGC研究學者項目旨在開發新的算法和分析,以解決一系列長期存在的數學問題,這些問題涉及參數化有限元方法的穩定性和收斂性,用於近似幾何流中曲率驅動的表面演化和兩相流體流(如液體中的氣泡)中的界面演化。這項研究有望對基礎算法產生新的理解,並產生新的計算方法,從而提高近似曲面進化的準確性、穩定性和網格質量。
