  • Associate Professor in Department of Applied Mathematics at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
  • Research focuses on the development of efficient computational methods for nonlinear partial differential equations in physical, engineering and geometric models, with rigorous analysis for the stability and convergence of the numerical approximations
  • RFS project - to develop new algorithms and analysis to address some long-standing mathematical questions concerning the stability and convergence of parameteric finite element methods for approximating curvature-driven surface and interface evolution in geometric flow and two-phase fluid flow (such as bubbles in liquids)

李步扬教授的研究主要是为计算数学中的前沿问题开发新的算法和分析。他于2023年获研资局研究学者计划奖学金,也曾于2022年获“香港数学会青年学者奖”。两个奖项皆是学界对他在计算数学领域中的重要贡献和卓越成就的认可。

 

他的RGC研究学者项目旨在开发新的算法和分析,以解决一系列长期存在的数学问题,这些问题涉及参数化有限元方法的稳定性和收敛性,用于近似几何流中曲率驱动的表面演化和两相流体流(如液体中的气泡)中的界面演化。这项研究有望对基础算法产生新的理解,并产生新的计算方法,从而提高近似曲面进化的准确性、稳定性和网格质量。
