Award Citation

Prof. Jianhua HAO is a Chair Professor of Materials Physics and Devices in PolyU. His research focus is on the functional thin-films, two-dimensional layered materials and heterostructures, and luminescence and phosphors for photonic and biomedical applications. He is internationally known for outstanding and pioneering contributions to multifunctional smart phosphors and photonic devices. He has published more than 330 SCI papers and listed as ESI Most Cited Scientists in Materials Science, and World's Top 2% Scientists released by Stanford University. He is the first inventor of 6 US patents. His works are highlighted by media of Materials Views, Asia Research News, ACS Chemical & Engineering News, Science Daily, PhysOrg.com, and journals of Nature Materials, Nature Photonics. He serves as an Associate Editor of InfoMat (impact factor: 25.405) and Editorial Board Member of several international journals. He is Member of Executive Board in Asian Electroceramics Association and Vice-President of Physical Society of Hong Kong (2015-2017). He gave a number of Plenary/ Keynote/ Tutorial/ Invited Lectures in various international conferences.   


SRFS project: to couple ferroelectric and piezoelectric effects on the optical and optoelectronic process in a variety of advanced materials and devices, to design and synthesize single-phase and composite based optoelectronic compounds, and investigate physical properties in the material systems, to demonstrate device applications based on the coupling effects.
