谢作伟，中国科学院院士, 香港科学院院士, 英国皇家化学会会士, 香港中文大学卓敏化学讲座教授。1983年毕业于杭州大学(现浙江大学)化学系，1986年获中国科学院上海有机化学研究所硕士学位，1990年于该所获博士学位(与德国柏林工业大学联合培养)。1995年受聘于香港中文大学化学系任助理教授, 随后晋升为副教授、教授、讲座教授及卓敏化学讲座教授。他主要从事金属有机化学和主族元素化学的研究，核心工作包括碳硼烷，超级碳硼烷,金属碳硼烷和低价硼化学, 在碳硼烷可控官能团化研究及超级碳硼烷化学领域做出重要贡献。在国际主流期刊已发表300余篇论文，其工作多次在美国化学会周刊C&EN上作为亮点介绍。谢作伟教授以第一完成人获2008年国家自然科学二等奖、2019年高等学校科学研究优秀成果奖自然科学二等奖, 2010年中国化学会黄耀曾金属有机化学奖及2003年香港裘槎基金会杰出研究奖。
