謝作偉，中國科學院院士, 香港科學院院士, 英國皇家化學會會士, 香港中文大學卓敏化學講座教授。1983年畢業于杭州大學(現浙江大學)化學系，1986年獲中國科學院上海有機化學研究所碩士學位，1990年於該所獲博士學位(與德國柏林工業大學聯合培養)。1995年受聘于香港中文大學化學系任助理教授, 隨後晉升為副教授、教授、講座教授及卓敏化學講座教授。他主要從事金屬有機化學和主族元素化學的研究，核心工作包括碳硼烷，超級碳硼烷,金屬碳硼烷和低價硼化學, 在碳硼烷可控官能團化研究及超級碳硼烷化學領域做出重要貢獻。在國際主流期刊已發表300餘篇論文，其工作多次在美國化學會週刊C&EN上作為亮點介紹。謝作偉教授以第一完成人獲2008年國家自然科學二等獎、2019年高等學校科學研究優秀成果獎自然科學二等獎, 2010年中國化學會黃耀曾金屬有機化學獎及2003年香港裘槎基金會傑出研究獎。
